Van Heerden focused on Bucs silverware

Orlando Pirates left-back Marc van Heerden has revealed his desire to win his first silverware with the club, who could still reach the Nedbank Cup final.

The 29-year-old joined Pirates in January from Chippa United, and made his third start in the 0-0 draw with Bloemfontein Celtic last week.

The Buccaneers will battle it out with Golden Arrows in the Nedbank Cup semi-finals on Sunday at Princess Magogo Stadium.

"The fact that we are in the semi-finals means that we have a chance to reach the finals. Being in my first season with the team, I can't hide the fact that it's my desire to win a silverware with the team," Van Heerden told Vodacom Soccer.

"Well, I'm settling in well in the team and am working hard to consolidate my starting berth in the team's squad. Being part of Pirates squad with a stiff competition for a starting line-up in all positions, is a motivation in its own and fires me up to double my efforts."

Before the clash with Abafana Bes'thende, the 10-placed Bucs will switch focus to their fight for a top-eight finish when they host a revitalised Ajax Cape Town at the Orlando Stadium on Wednesday.
