Israeli outfit keen on Lorch

Orlando Pirates have been approached by a club in Israel looking to try and sign reigning Absa Premiership Player of the Season, Thembinkosi Lorch.

Lorch, who recently returned from international duty after helping Bafana Bafana to a 2-1 win over Mali in the Nelson Mandela Challenge, has been the subject of speculation for a number of months now, after a stellar 2018/19 campaign, and it looks like he’s still got admirers outside of South Africa.

Its been revealed that Israeli outfit, Hapoel Be’er Sheva, have enquired about the availability of the 26-year-old attacker, and are believed to have offered a multi-million rand figure for his signature. Indications are that a figure of just under R10 million was offered.

Be’er Sheva did reach the final round of qualifiers for this year’s UEFA Europa League, however fell at the final hurdle when they were knocked out by Dutch giants, Feyenoord, and currently top the Ligat Ha’al table after six games.

Lorch did attract interest from a number of different clubs over the past few months - most notably from France and Belgium – following his impressive campaign last time out. Pirates, however, made a decision to keep him at the club as they remain determined to end their barren run with regards to trophies.

A bumper offer is believed to have been turned down from Belgian giants, Club Brugge, and it remains to be seen whether they, the Israelis, or any other of the interested parties, will push to try and sign him in January, but for now he will be focused on helping to turn around Bucs’ fortunes – starting with this weekend’s Telkom Knockout encounter with Stellenbosch FC.
