“They’ve obviously not been getting results. They got their first victory of the season against Polokwane City not so long ago and obviously facing a newly-promoted side in the Absa Premiership is a bit difficult for us because we don’t know exactly what to expect from them. But we’ll do our homework and we’ll keep studying them. We’ll watch their games and work hard in training. We are playing at home and it’s been long since this club has won a trophy, so everyone’s objective this season is to deliver something. This is the season where we have to deliver something. We have to put the pressure on our shoulders, keep on working hard, keep on moving forward and deliver a trophy.
This is not only for ourselves, but our supporters as well, because we believe that they deserve it more than anything. Going into the game against Stellenbosch, we need to focus on the task at hand and get the result. I mean, it’s make-or break in this Telkom Knockout, so we need to go all the way and win it.
I’ve played in the final of this competition against Bidvest Wits when I was at Bloemfontein Celtic and Orlando Pirates lost to Baroka FC last season (in the final). Losing the final with Celtic was difficult. It’s a final that, to this day, I can’t even bear to watch that game again. Just the way we lost that game hurts and the only way to wipe away that is by winning this trophy this season.”
