Orlando Pirates’ list of potential Maritzburg United targets is growing as the 2019/20 season enters into the business end, with yet another player being linked with a move to the Soweto giants.
Bucs managed to sign Fortune Makaringe and Siphesihle Ndlovu from Maritzburg at the end of last season, as they edged Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns - respectively - to the two players. This campaign has seen Maritzburg defender Rushine De Reuck linked to Bucs and are also the odds-on favourites to sign Richard Ofori, should the Ghanaian opt to stay in the PSL and move on from Maritzburg.
However, De Reuck and Ofori are not the only players being tracked by the Buccaneers. According to sources, Bucs have identified Judas Moseamedi as a potential target. Although he hasn’t scored many goals this season, having netted only four in the league, the 26-year-old’s work-rate has been commended, with his consistent selections to Eric Tinkler’s line-ups in the second round of the season proving his importance to the team.
A source explained, “There’s a few players from Maritzburg that have attracted interest from Pirates, and Ofori and De Reuck are some of them. The club (Pirates) is also interested in Judas Moseamedi.”
“You can expect the relationship between the two clubs to continue at the end of the season, as Pirates are currently also having (Tebogo) Tlolane (on loan) there (at Maritzburg),” the source added.
Contacted for comment, Maritzburg chairman Farook Kadodia refused to divulge much, citing that he would prefer doing so after he receives an official offer for any of the players.
“I’ve got nothing on my table, so I can’t talk about it,” the chairman told the Siya crew.
“I don’t think it’s of importance until any deal is done,” he said.
