Lyle Foster on Brugge derby compared to the Soweto Derby

"For me, I am yet to see or experience a derby like the Soweto Derby. In the Soweto Derby, you can’t hear anything. When they tell you to start warming up, your legs start shaking. Here (in Belgium), you are nervous… I can’t explain it. With the Brugge derby, I was nervous, but I was not nervous. It was like that good nervous, but with the Soweto Derby, you are scared. From the time you warm-up, the stadium is full.

"You know, in South Africa it’s a big derby, but the fans sit together. But here the fans are like how it is on Play-Station. The home team fans sit here and the away team fans sit there. If they cross paths, they will hit each other. It’s crazy. They sing and sing. The one thing I can say about playing in South Africa, especially when you play for Pirates, most games were like home games. But here you can feel the difference between a home and an away game. That’s one difference from South Africa."
